Located in Ville St-Laurent, this house was originally built following the typical characteristics of so-called “veterans’ houses.” Affordable and modest, this type of dwelling is usually isolated, simple, with minimal ornamental details, a sloped roof, brick facades, and a modest footprint of around 25 by 25 feet.
Rich in history, these homes no longer meet the needs of today’s young families.
APPAREIL Architecture was therefore tasked with expanding and modernizing the living space of this bungalow to accommodate the lifestyle of its new residents, while creating a spacious interior with a distinctive Nordic character.

“To transform a small, 60-year-old house with enclosed spaces into a bright, spacious, and modern home—that was the challenge given to Kim and her team. They rose to it brilliantly, with attentiveness and dedication. The house now meets our needs perfectly. We couldn’t be happier!”
